Introducing Phoebe, the Staffie Lab Cross

A Little About Phoebe

Let me introduce Phoebe, she is a 6 year old Staffie lab cross.  We have had Phoebe in our family since December 2012.
She is a crazy, happy and funny girl; you'd think she was still a puppy how she acts and with all her energy.  She has the puppy dog eyes and head tilt down to a T and always gets what she wants.
Unfortunately Phoebe has many allergies such as hay fever and certain foods.   She has a very sensitive stomach meaning we are limited as to what food and treats she is able to get.  This took a while to get under control however we now have it completely sorted.  Her skin is also bad due to hayfever, her skin gets very itchy and when we first got her she even had some bald patches.  Phoebe takes half a tablet each day to help with these allergies and her fur has grown back thicker and better.

Where Phoebe Came From & Our First Meet

We got Phoebe in December 2012 from a rescue center in Aberdeen, Mrs Murray's Home for Stray Dogs and Cats.  We decided that after our previous dog Paddy had passed away it was time we got a new member for our family.  I was at work when my then Fiance went to Aberdeen with my mam and her dog Bonnie, a German shepherd, to take a look at the dogs in the center, ensuring that which even dog we took got on with Bonnie.  I think it was love at first site...when they met Phoebe immediately went onto her back and showed Bonnie her belly.  The next minute she was giving her lots of kisses.  Once Bonnie had the attention she then moved onto Mikey and my mam wanting cuddles and kisses as well.  It was a no brainer Phoebe was coming home. After a long sleep in the car home she was recharged and ready.  When I got home from work I wasn't sure what to expect, I'd seen a photo of her but that was all.  I came in and immediately came running towards me, I crouched down and just about got knocked off my feet, paws on my shoulders and kisses and cuddled in.  We knew she was the right choice.

Phoebe's Likes

Phoebe loves cuddles, now when I say loves them I mean LOVES them.  She will find anyway possible to get as close as she can just to give you a cuddle...even sit on you. Phoebe always has to be touching you somehow or she will moan haha  She loves being under a cover keeping cosey even in the summer and she will huff  and stare at you until she gets covered.
Kisses are another big thing, she is so lovable all she wants to do it kiss you and the more you laugh the more she kisses.
In the summer Phoebe loves to play out side and run around the garden for hours on end.  She has her favourite football - this is no longer a football anymore as it is bust and half torn - that she runs around with and wants throwing for her and will also play tug of war with it.  Tennis balls have got to be her favourite, she loves to chase them however she won't always give them back for you to throw.

Once Phoebe has had enough playing she'll lay down with her ball in her mouth and just chew up and down until she falls asleep with the ball in her mouth.
"Shall we go for a walk" as a lot of you might know this is something you only say to a dog when you're actually going to take them out! She will jump up and run right to the door and sit and wait for you to get ready.  The only thing she isn't keen on it wearing her halti, however once it is on and we set off she's quite the thing. Everything must be sniffed and examined along the way.  Phoebe is very nosy, if she can look into peoples gardens she will, she's even been known to do a little hop/jump just to see over a wall.  I wouldn't say we have a specific walk as sometimes Phoebe will decide to go different ways so she can investigate new places.

My step daughter Skye - this is love.  Phoebe will follow her around from the moment she gets to ours until the moment she leaves.  When we say 'its bed time' Phoebe will run passed everyone straight up the stairs and into Skye's room - she won't leave until morning.   You would think the pair of them are joined at the hip, always cuddling next to each other or playing in the garden / around the house.

Phoebe's Dislikes

Now there isn't may things that Phoebe doesn't like but the main one is water.  She HATES the rain, if she can get away with not going out whilst it is raining she won't.  Even once the rain has stopped she will jump over puddles so her paws don't wet and does a funny sort of walk if she happens to stand in them.  Phoebe will also make you run back home if it starts to even split whist we are out on a walk, always be prepared.
The same goes for snow and windy weather it's too cold for her even with her lovely warm coat on, she will look at you as if you're daft and lay back down or hide from you if you pick up her lead.
For all she loves a walk on the beach we need to make sure we keep away from the sea. This has got to be a funny site for any on lookers, Phoebe loves to investigate so she will get as close to the sea as possible without getting wet however when a wave comes in and it gets close to her paws she'll do a little side run to try and get away from the water and then chase it back out.

I hope you have enjoyed reading a little bit about Phoebe and getting to know her background and her personality.
Keep an eye open for more blogs, I'll be writing product reviews of some of Phoebes toys, places she loves to go and any other adventures that come our way.

What's your dogs favourite things to do? Do they do any crazy things too?  Let me know in the comments.  Phoebe would love to hear from you!
