Our New Addition

Georgie 4 months old
A Little Background

As most of you have seen on Phoebe's Facebook page and Instagram we've had a new addition to our family in September Georgie.  He was born 30th May (roughly) so he is still only very young and very small!

I gave a little background to him in my previous blog, Adopt Don't ShopGeorgie was found in the woods at just two days old and handed into the SSPCA. Unfortunately he had a hard start in life, he had problems with his growth, his body didn't grow at the usual speed and meaning his brain was too big for his skull and he had to have some teeth removed as his jaw wasn't big enough.

There was a point where they thought he wouldn't make it...but he must be a fighter and pulled through!

How It All Happened

I saw Georgie on an Instagram post by Wallace Vets, saying he would be ready for adoption soon from the SSPCA. When I saw him I thought he'd be a great addition to our family and a companion for Phoebe.  When I initially contacted them he had already been re-homed, however a week later I got a call to say unfortunately he'd been taken back and did we want to go and see him!

His first day home
So the next day it was a trip to the SSPCA to meet Georgie, we also took Phoebe to meet him as well.  It all went great, Phoebe was a little apprehensive going in, but we think that is because of the other dogs barking and possibly the reminder of where she came from (Introducing Phoebe)
She let him come over to see her and she had a little sniff and a wag of her tail. The next step was to go back and let then have a walk together to make sure they got on OK.  I mean Phoebe loves a walk so what could go wrong?! Nothing, it went perfectly...they'd walk near each other have a sniff then do their own thing.
So now it was home check and fingers crossed all went well.

The lady who came to do the home check is the one who got the initial call about Georgie and who picked him up. She was happy she was getting to see where he could potentially be living. We didn't have to wait long, 15 minutes to be precise for a call to say Georgie is ours and when did we want to pick him up?! Clearly we left within the next 10 minutes to go get him

Phoebe and Georgie Now

Since having Georgie home Phoebe has started to get used to having him here.  He is still a little boisterous for her liking we think maybe as he's still a lot smaller she's scared in case she hurts him.

Georgie like to be close to Phoebe
Loves his little bandanas

She has now moved to having cuddles on the sofa with us...maybe not quite next to Georgie but she is getting there. However she will let him give her lots of kisses especially if she thinks you're not looking!  Of course they'll stand next to each other without a fuss when getting a treat!

Nearly there with family cuddles
As you know Phoebe loves her walks and so does Georgie! As soon as he hears the dog cupboard door close and the leads he's running through like a mad man barking, crying and jumping all over. When walking he's really good on his lead, although he does sometimes try to bit at Phoebe's.  They'll walk next to each other as good as gold and not mess on, they'll even give each other little side glances and we're sure there's a smile there too.

Cuddles with Skye

Georgie has turned into a cuddle monster! He loves to be cuddled, he eventually figured out that if you snuggle under the covers it is even cosier.  I think the day Phoebe let's him cuddle into her will be his dream come true, he so desperately wants to but she isn't having any of it!  He also loves to sleep in weird positions, they look so uncomfortable but clearly aren't if he can snore away.
His little tongue likes to stick out

Comfy there Georgie?!

I hope you've enjoyed reading a little more about Georgie, I thought I'd better introduce him properly and give you all a little background.
