Arbroath Nature Trail

At The Start

As the weather had not been great, we were hoping that the rain would stay off long enough to get in a good walk.
This week Phoebe, Skye and Mikey decided to keep local and go to the Nature Trail, it's great what we have on our doorstep.
Mikey parked up and they started the walk at St Vigeans, there is a car park that holds roughly 15 cars so you don't need to try and find somewhere to park.   You need to go over a bridge and turn right for about 30 meters and head down a path, this looks like a dive (path to cemetery), go over another bridge and this gets you onto the nature trail.
The full nature trail, if you want a nice long walk, will take you to Letham Grange.  It is set out in sections with poo bins at the start and end of each part.
Phoebe was excited to say the least at the start as she hasn't been many times before, she was edging to get stuck in to investigating.

Section One

This has little paths that lead down to the beck (burn) so you can wander off the main track to have a little look.  There is a part where a tree has fallen over, you are able to climb/walk over it to the other side if you want, you can only walk a little way on this side as there isn't a proper path to walk.  Skye decided she was going to investigate and we think Phoebe got a little jealous that she wasn't able to have a go.  As I've mentioned in previous posts Phoebe isn't a fan of the water, but Skye shouted her when she was climbing and Phoebe decided to venture in a little way to check it out! Mikey even got photos this time to prove it! It didn't happen just once either...she took it upon herself to go further into the water and ENJOYED it!

Skye what you doing up there?!

Doing a little Exploring

There is also a man made tarzi as well....I would advise adults not to have a go, Mikey thought it would be fun after seeing Skye have a swing.  It didn't go too well...lets just say he ended up sitting on the floor (don't worry the tarzi is still there).

Section 2

Now was the exciting part for Phoebe, the beck starts to go in a different direction away from the path and parts are fenced off.  Phoebe was in her element all the sniffing that was going on, tail wagging and not knowing where to go next! If you are coming from the St Vigeans end there is a man made swing on the right hand side, Skye spotted this and was off! I'm sure if Phoebe could have had a go she would have been straight on there! Phoebe loved this section and kept stopping to sniff at every opportunity, she didn't even mind hanging round for Skye to play, sometimes she gets a little impatient.

The Walk Back

As the weather had been very unpredictable Mikey decided that they should head back as there was forecast for more heavy rain.  Skye was on her bike so could ride ahead and climb on the tree and have another quick go on the tarzi.  Phoebe loved it...sniffing again at the parts she found interesting and even getting in some new parts.
This was a good hours walk with the stops in between and beating the rain which started not long after.

Hurry up Dad, stop taking pictures
The trail is also used by cyclists so if you're out walking with young kids or dogs then just be a little careful in case they happen to creep up on you.

Have you been on any of Arbroath's nature trail or is there one close to you that you love to walk down. Let us know in the comments
